# How will update enforcement impact NordLayer app users?

This update introduces the latest security features for all users. To ensure a secure connection to our network, **updating NordLayer to the latest version is now mandatory**.

**Starting on August 5th**, users on older versions of the app will receive a notification prompting them to update. Users who choose to ignore these updates for an extended period of time **will be unable to connect to NordLayer services**.

We remind you that if you have a Virtual Private Gateway set up, you can use our official [Browser Extension](https://help.nordlayer.com/docs/setting-up-browser-extension). You can add the extension to Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge browsers.
