# How to remove NordLayer from macOS?

<p>Discover how to fully uninstall the NordLayer app and delete its files from your macOS system. Follow our step-by-step guide to using the NordLayer uninstaller app.</p>

<h2>Download the uninstaller&nbsp;</h2>

<ol>
	<li>Click <a href="https://downloads.nordlayer.com/mac/latest/NordLayer_Uninstaller.zip" rel="nofollow" translate="no">here</a> to download the uninstaller</li>
	<li>Once downloaded, unzip the file</li>
	<li>Before launching the uninstaller, it&#39;s recommended to disconnect from the NordLayer VPN manually. This ensures a smooth and safe uninstallation.</li>
</ol>

<h2>Run the uninstaller&nbsp;</h2>

<p>After you run the uninstaller, you&#39;ll encounter one of three scenarios:</p>

<ul>
	<li><strong>NordLayer app Installed and Running</strong>. The uninstaller detects that NordLayer is active and suggests force quitting. Once you quit, the Uninstall button becomes active.</li>
	<li><strong>NordLayer app Installed but Not Running</strong>. The uninstaller detects that NordLayer is installed and prompts you to uninstall it.</li>
	<li><strong>NordLayer app Not Found</strong>. The uninstaller doesn&#39;t detect NordLayer (for instance, if NordLayer was manually dragged to the Trash). Despite this, the uninstaller can be used to remove any remaining files.</li>
</ul>

<p>Once the Uninstall button is active, clicking it will initiate a scan for NordLayer files to be deleted.</p>

In certain instances, a prompt may ask for your administrator password. This step is required to grant the uninstaller the necessary privileges to remove all related files

<p>If you enter the wrong password or cancel the process, you&#39;ll see an error screen. This screen offers options to export log files, try the uninstallation again, or exit the app.</p>

<p>After you&#39;ve entered the administrator password and successfully uninstalled the NordLayer app, a confirmation screen will indicate that the process is complete.</p>
