# Troubleshooting Trusted Wi-Fi in NordLayer on Windows 11

Starting with Windows 11 version 24H2, an improvement was introduced to the operating system, requiring Location Services to be enabled for applications to identify Wi-Fi networks. If this setting is disabled on your device, NordLayer will be unable to configure network exceptions, which prevents you from adding your current network to the Trusted Wi-Fi list.

The Trusted Networks feature in NordLayer acts as an exceptions list—when you add a network to it, the VPN connection behavior changes specifically for that network. To accurately identify and differentiate between networks, NordLayer requires access to your device's location information.

## How to enable Location Services for Windows 11?

To add Trusted Wi-Fi networks in NordLayer, Location Services must be enabled on your Windows device

1. Right-click the **Windows icon** on the taskbar and select **Settings**.

3. Scroll down to find **Location** under **App permissions**.
4. Depending on your user privileges:
    1. If you're an administrator: Toggle Location services to On. This allows the operating system to grant applications access to location functions.
    2. If you're not an administrator: You won't see this option. Contact your system administrator for assistance.
5. Ensure that NordLayer is enabled in the **Let apps access your precise location** list (if you can’t see NordLayer application in the list, make sure to enable **Let desktop apps access your location**).

Once these steps are performed, you should be able to add Trusted Wi-Fi networks to NordLayer.
