# 'Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services' error on Windows 10

If you are getting an error 'Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services' on Windows 10 while installing the NordLayer application - please make sure that you are using an up-to date Windows 10 version.

To check which exact version of Windows you are using, please proceed with the following steps:

- On **Windows 10/11** - Click **Start** or **Windows button**, open **Settings** and head to **About**.
- On **Windows 8.1** - Right click on **Computer icon** and head to **Properties**. Under **Windows edition**, exact Windows version will be shown.
