App connection automation controls

Prev Next

To enhance the administrator experience and streamline application management for organizations, NordLayer has expanded its security controls within the Control Panel. These improvements give IT administrators greater control over application settings across their organization, reducing end-user involvement while ensuring consistent security and operational standards on macOS and Windows.

Expanded settings customization

For select settings, administrators have access to enhanced customization options, including enforcement capabilities. Below are two use cases that demonstrate how these settings can be managed.

1. Auto-Launch when computer starts

Administrators can enable or disable the NordLayer app's auto-launch functionality when the user's computer starts:

  • Enforced Setting: If the administrator enforces the auto-launch setting, users will not be able to customize or disable this option on their device.
  • Customizable Setting: If not enforced, users can modify the setting to suit their preference.

2. Auto-Connect on app launch and untrusted Wi-Fi

Administrators can control the Auto-Connect functionality in the NordLayer application. This includes:

  • Auto-Connect when the application launches.
  • Auto-Connect when connecting to untrusted Wi-Fi networks.
  • Preselecting a preferred gateway for auto-connect (e.g., nearest gateway or specific gateway by ID).
Please note

These features are only available from macOS NordLayer version 3.9.0 and Windows NordLayer version 3.7.0
