When you browse, NordLayer Browser saves pieces of the websites you visit in its cache and cookies. Clearing that stored data is one of the fastest fixes for pages that won't load, look broken, or keep showing outdated content.
Clearing cache and cookies in NordLayer Browser
- Open NordLayer Browser on your computer.
- In the top-right corner, click the three-dot menu.
- Go to Delete browsing data...
- Choose a time range — for example, Last hour, Last 7 days, or All time.
- Tick Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.
- Check any other items you want removed, such as browsing history.
- Click Delete from this device to confirm.
A quicker route: press Ctrl + Shift + Delete on Windows or Cmd + Shift + Delete on Mac to open the dialog directly. You can also type "clear browsing data" in the address bar and select the action shortcut that appears.
What happens after you clear this data
- You'll be signed out of most websites and will need to log in again.
- Site-specific preferences, such as language or layout choices, are reset.
- Some pages load more slowly at first because images and scripts must be downloaded again.
- Local storage space on your device is freed up.
Clearing your browser cache does not sign you out of NordLayer itself. Your NordLayer Browser session, Organization ID, and 2FA setup are handled by the application, not by website cookies, so you stay connected to your organization's gateway.
If clearing the cache doesn't help
If a site still fails to load in NordLayer Browser, the cause may be a routing policy rather than cached data. NordLayer Browser routes traffic according to policies set by your administrator, and a domain can be routed through a gateway, sent via direct internet access, or blocked entirely. If a resource is unreachable no matter what you clear, ask your IT administrator to check the routing policy that applies to your team.
